| With the scheme fully designed, the EA were looking for a quick start to ensure that the works would be completed before the onset of winter and rising river and ground water levels.
Several key temporary work requirements, namely coffer dams to both inlet and outlet, crane pad and access route across to the working areas, meant engagement with a 3rd party designer prior to mobilisation. Where the works were originally going to be self delivered by the EA, much of the prefabricated materials and piles were provided free issue which gave confidence in switching on the project with a reduced lead in period. |
The Thames path public right of way cut through the works site, requiring a diversion as well as a temporary vehicle crossing to facilitate the works which included;
